All creatures great and small
Part of the attraction of running sheep in some of Infield’s managed vineyards is personal for Managing Director, Tom Ayers. While growers can save on slashing and weed spraying costs, (the sheep have voracious appetites for all things herbal at this time of the year) for Tom it has become a family affair.
Tom’s son, Sid, is in Year 11 at Urrbrae Agricultural High School studying his Cert I in Ag. It therefore follows that there have been offers to help Tom look after the sheep. As to who will be doing the dirty work remains to be seen, but Sid is already showing Tom the ropes.
Apparently, there is also great pleasure to be had for father and son while herding the sheep on their motorbikes.
